Titan Krios cryo-Electron Microscope (EM)
Duke was one of the first universities in the country to install a Titan Krios Cryo-TEM for high-resolution structural studies of key biological macromolecular complexes. The department also recruited Dr. Alberto Bartesaghi, primary faculty member in the Departments of Biochemistry and Computer Science and an expert in developing computational approaches to determine the structure of macromolecular complexes using single-particle cryo-electron microscopy, cryo-electron tomography, and sub-volume averaging.

X-Ray Crystallography (Advanced Photon Source Synchrotron)
The Department of Biochemistry oversees the membership of Duke University in the Southeast Regional Collaborative Team (SERCAT). This membership allows all researchers frequent access to the 22-ID and 22-BM beamlines at the Advanced Photon Source Synchrotron, located at the Argonne National Laboratory.
Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Center (NMR)
Housed in the Duke Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy Center, investigators have access to high field NMR instrumentation, training in the use of NMR methods, and expert consultation on advanced NMR applications.
The Functional Genomics Shared Resource provides Duke researchers access to standard and advanced imaging instrumentation such as chemical and genetic screening and CRISPR-CAS9 genome editing services.
